On 9 March 2015, the Department of Applied Modern Languages hosted a workshop held by Delia Rogobete, researcher and academic of Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, the USA who talked about the challenges of an academic career in Europe and the USA.
The presentation included the following themes:
- What should (not) the Romanian higher-education system take over?
- What is the possible itinerary of a Romanian student who tries to do research in the humanities?
- Which are the advantages of the American researcher nowadays?
- What are the causes of the European lag?
- Which are taboos of the European research?
Delia Rogobete also talked about the relationship between the American and the French university systems, about life on campus, providing various suggestions for the improvement of the didactic and research activities in our institution.
